‘THE BOX’ is a personal project specifically designed as a gift for Florence Welch from Florence and The Machine and was given to her during the last concert from the High as Hope tour in Athens on 19 of September 2019. It was driven by passion, love and gratitude that enhanced the uniqueness of the whole concept.

It a set of oracle cards (contemporary version of the traditional Tarot cards) inspired by the Maya calendar called Tzolkin which means “the distribution of the days,” and is also called Sacred Round. It is a 260-day calendar with 20 periods of 13 days, and it is used to determine the time of religious and ceremonial events. The days in each period are numbered from one to 13. Each day is also given a name (glyph) from a sequence of 20 day names.’ I believe that it can become a spirit guide that rules certain elements or aspects of life helping to shape the self-realisation. With use of this calendar I have created a set of Oracle cards. Each day you pick two cards - one from the set of 20 day names and one from 13 numbers cards. Then you just reflect on them.

The second part is called the gratitude spells- a tiny book where I talk a bit about my spiritual journey that was influenced by Florence as an artist.
Visual concept is directed to Florence’s aesthetics of her latest album ‘High as hope’ that’s main them can be described as organic, natural and peaceful. Within this approach I have focused on adding a sense of time by dying paper and aging the wood of the box. Moreover I have used Maya iconography and renaissance engravings as main inspiration for defining the appropriate style for the illustrations.
